The word Kazuri comes from the Swahili for small and beautiful, representing the delicate, rich and colorful ceramic jewelery of Kenya. Kazuris Gardens encapsulate this same sense of beauty and vibrant sentiment within its carefully restored rustic cottage accommodation.

Kazuri Garden Cottages are away from the tourist developments on the coast, yet the sea is only a few kilometers away. The property that now houses the Garden Cottages is believed to date from around 1850 and was originally a wine pressing farm.

The current owner purchased the property in 1972 and established her home in the original farm house, progressively converting the outbuildings into seven charming holiday cottages. She has overseen and managed the endeavor from the beginning.

Her unique flair for design has led to the artistic and decorative influences witnessed in each cottage. The mature gardens which have taken 30 years to create make Kazuri a haven of tranquility giving visitors a quiet setting in which to enjoy their holiday in Portugal.

Azul Cottage: Surrounded by hibiscus and bougainvillea as well as many other seasonal flowers, this cottages ambience is tangible. Azul originally housed the lagars in which grapes were trodden; it has been sympathetically redesigned in a cheerful blue and yellow colour scheme, with traditional whitewashed walls and handmade floor tiles.

The open plan kitchen and sitting room offers traditional upholstered seating, as well as a breakfast bar with stools. A wide archway leads from the sitting room, up a step to the bedroom offering twin-bed accommodation, dressing table, chest of drawers and wardrobe.

The shower room is located en suite. The private sun patio and shaded area provides space for al fresco living and has a tiled table and chairs and built-in barbecue.

Guests are welcome all the year round at the Garden Cottages. A visit during the Algarves cooler season is ideal for the keen golfer and many of the Algarves renowned golf courses are within easy reach.

A large circular swimming pool is landscaped into the garden. It is surrounded by a paved terrace and is supplied with loungers and sun umbrellas.

It is often possible to swim well beyond the summer months. Local Algarve shops supplying essential items are within walking distance as are several restaurants.
