Borges's poem 'Fundacion mitica de Buenos Aires' names a typical square (bordered by streets Guatemala, Serrano, Paraguay, Gurruchaga) adjacent to his childhood home, a popular tourist landmark. It was historically a residential area, popular with communities from Poland, Armenia, Ukraine and Lebanon and old Spanish and Italian families, whose traditions are reflected in local restaurants, churches, schools and cultural centres.

A great bakery half block away. Take advantage of the sandwich and empanadas shop on the corner, they are great and as soon as you walk out of the building you will see a taxi available to take you anywhere.

Public transportation: metro, buses are all within 2 blocks of the apartment. The metro will take you downtown in less than 15 minutes.

Inexpensive Taxis are available 24 hours a day. Palermo is all about enjoying and relaxing, experiencing delicious food, listening to music and drinking fine Argentine wine.
