Shopping centers and malls abound in the area of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Snow skiing is a very popular activity at the slopes in nearby Ober Gatlinburg.

There are two islands, the larger one has a lighthouse and cabin. There is a restaurant on the opposite side of the lake 'The Docksider'.

The fishing is wonderful. There is a wetland, swamp area at the inflow of the lake which is full of wildlife and birds.

The view from the cabin is of Prospect Mountain, French Mountain and the other mountains separating Glen Lake from Lake George. The water is comfortable and great for swimming and activities.

Most of the homes along the lake are year round and it tends to be very quite during the week, especially during the day. It is truly a beautiful place to be.

The cabin: The cabin was built during the 1930's. It is very lovely and surrounded by woods tucked into the side of the hill.

The cabin is located on the same property as the owners home. The driveway is shared but the landscaping very nicely separates the two.

You have your own private swimming area. It is wooded on either side of the swim area (no one has a beach or swim area right next to you).

The view from the screened in porch is breath taking. You can see up the lake, the islands and the sunsets.

Bear Den Community: Big Bear Cabin is located in the Bear Den community directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Bear Den is an incredibly fun community with a vast number of amenities to enjoy during your stay at Big Bear Cabin.

Bear Den consists of over 400 sparsely developed acres and is located inside Pisgah National Forest. There is a lake with sandy beach area for swimming, fishing (no North Carolina fishing license needed), paddle-boating (for rent), and canoeing (for rent).

Bear Den has miles of hiking trails, a waterfall, two fun playgrounds for the little ones, basketball court, horse-shoes, volleyball and badminton, shuffleboard, ping-pong, arcade, and recreation hall which hosts entertainment seasonally. Empire is the gateway to the 70,000 acre national park, Sleeping Bear Dunes. No shortage of skiing, hiking, beach combing, canoeing, fishing and peace and quiet.

We are located only twenty minutes to Traverse City, which offers many fine dining possibilities as well as the newly renovated State Theater, home of the Traverse City Film Festival. An additional timber framed guest cabin is available, a stones throw from the house.
